In Jajce you will:
A cluster of historical watermills located on the limestone barrier between the Big and the Small Pliva lakes are truly spectacular! Dating back to the Middle Ages, these windowless watermills demonstrate the historical architecture style and carpentry techniques of the region. It is still possible to purchase some freshly-milled flour from one of the mills!
Pliva lakes have been an inspiration for many local artists. Particularly still water due to high level of diluted hydrogen, creates mirror like reflection of surrounding mountains. The perfectly still water makes the lakes ideal for boating activities. We recommend this location for lunch while enjoying beautiful nature.
Optional at Pliva lake:
Finally, arrive at the 15th-century Old Town of Travnik. A town that was a capital for more than 150 years during the Ottoman time. Travnik Fortress, which was once used by Ottomans Viziers (Governors) as their seat of power is one of the best preserved fortified constructions in the country. The only town with two clock towers and a mosque with minaret on the “wrong side”. Birthplace of first Bosnian Nobel price winner Ivo Andric. Nowadays Travnik is gastronomical leader with world famous Travnik cheese.
In Travnik you will:
Howling sound of the water being born from the rock gave the name to the settlement nearby. Most famous and beautiful picnic area in Travnik is a perfect spot for relaxing.
