Stop 1: Jajce

Soaring mountain peaks, small villages, wide rivers and incredible history! Central Bosnia is definitely one of the most picturesque parts of our country! Driving towards our fist stop via highway not only saves time, but also gives opportunity for amazing views! One of the sights seen from the window is perfectly pyramid-shaped hill which is believed to be the Bosnian Pyramid (check tour).

In just under 3 hours we have reached city of Jajce. In the heart of the city where two rivers join, 50.000 years old natural phenomena occurs. Pliva waterfall which is 21 meters high is one of twelve most beautiful in the world.

A seat for Bosnian kings this royal town has been modeled by Ottoman, Austro-Hungarian and Yugoslav influence. Walking tour is perfect way to soak up the rich historical atmosphere of the town and see an array of national monuments. Pay a visit to an underground catacomb  built by Hvatinic family. At the top of the city lies Jajce fortress and it is a perfect finishing stop of our tour providing us with breathtaking panoramic view of the city

STOP 2: Pliva watermills and Pliva lake

A cluster of historical watermills located on the limestone barrier between the Big and the Small Pliva lakes are truly spectacular! Dating back to the Middle Ages, these windowless watermills demonstrate the historical architecture style and carpentry techniques of the region. It is still possible to purchase some freshly-milled flour from one of the mills!

Pliva lakes have been an inspiration for many local artists. Particularly still water due to high level of diluted hydrogen, creates mirror like reflection of surrounding mountains. The perfectly still water makes the lakes ideal for boating activities. We recommend this location for lunch while enjoying beautiful nature.

Optional at Pliva lake:

  • Boat ride

STOP 3: Travnik and Blue Water spring

Finally, arrive at the 15th-century Old Town of Travnik. A town that was a capital for more than 150 years during the Ottoman time. Travnik Fortress, which was once used by Ottomans Viziers (Governors) as their seat of power is one of the best preserved fortified constructions in the country. The only town with two clock towers and a mosque with minaret on the “wrong side”. Birthplace of  first Bosnian Nobel price winner Ivo Andric. Nowadays Travnik is gastronomical leader with world famous Travnik cheese.

In Travnik  you will:

  • Visit Travnik Fortress and enjoy the panorama of the city
  • Learn about vivid history of the Travnik
  • Try world-famous cheese
  • Visit the Old Town and Colorful mosque

Howling sound of the water being born from the rock gave the name to the settlement nearby. Most famous and beautiful picnic area in Travnik is a perfect spot for relaxing. Even the Austrian Archduke and Crown Price drank coffee at this place. A perfect place to round the tour and start our journey back to Sarajevo.
